We Scan through Glass!
There is no need to disassemble your expensive frame work.*
Our prices aren't "cheap" because our process is cheap, they are "cheap"
because we use the latest technology that allows us, in many cases, to decrease the turn-around time and effort. We pass that savings on to the artist so they can invest it in their prints. As of January 2010, there are not finer or more-current technologies available for fine art reproduction than the ones we use to reproduce your art.

This explains what is included with the
Compete Color Setup Service
Scan and Color Setup is the complete turn-key service
that provides a digital file that it is ready to print on any modern‡ hardware platform in the world.
Scan and color setup services include scanning your art, color correcting, and proofing on gallery grade fine art paper.
Complete Color Setup Steps:
Step One - You paint the original.
-
Step Two - We receive the original and Scan it.
-
Step Three - We make the necessary color adjustments.
-
Step Four - We make printers proofs to check our adjustments.
-
Step Five - Once the colors are correct, we make you an Artist's proof.
-
Step Six - You inspect the artist proof, compared to your original art work.
-
Step Seven - We burn a CD with a printable TIFF file and a low res JPEG.
-
Step Eight - You leave with the Original, a CD and the artist proof.

This explains what is included with the
— Scan-and-Go Service —
-
We scan your original using our camera-mounted scanning equipment
-
We set the gray balance
-
We burn a RGB digital copy of your file as a TIFF on a CD.
-
We return the original art to you with the CD.

FYI:
Your color-corrected digital file will be industry compliant so that you may have giclees printed at other fine art printing companies (should the need ever arise).
Giclee Artist's Proofs are printed on Fine Art Paper, and are up to 14"
on their widest dimension (e.g. 11x14, 8x14, 14x14, etc).
The Giclee Artist Proof is normally kept by the artist as a record of the colors that are on the digital file. Normally, an artist will archive the Artist Proof in an archival binder. This serves at least three purposes:
1) It protects the proof in an archival manner
2) it is a manageable system to maintain
(the proofs aren't so big that you have to keep them under your bed)
3) It makes it easy to flip through the portfolio and show potential buyers your complete collection.
FOOTNOTES:
‡ Depending on the size of the original, the final TIFF files can be so large that low-end computers can not process or print them.
Some older computers might be able to call up the TIFF file on their screen, but they may not have the processing power needed to process or print the file (and that is why we also supply the smaller JPEG file. The JPEG can be processed by slower computers, but is not suitable for gallery grade printing.)
* If the art is not matted, and the frame makes direct contact with the art, the edge of the frame may cast a 1/4-3/8 inch shadow on one edge of the painting--usually the "top edge". This shadow may require cropping if it can not be corrected. If cropping is unacceptable, then the artist should remove the art from the frame.
**When comparing prices, remember to ask how the digital image is being captured.
It makes a world of difference if you find similar or cheaper prices, but the company is using a digital snap shot.
There is not a large price gap between the Scan and Go prices and the Complete Color Setup prices because our refined workflow allows us to (very often) capture art colors within 90-95% of the original's true color.
